ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ is delighted to renew a sponsorship deal with celebrated motorcycle racer, Maria Costello, ahead of this year’s Isle of Man TT campaign. 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of Costello competing on the iconic mountain course, with considerable successes in both the Supertwin and Sidecar classes under her belt in previous years. Costello – born just a stone’s throw from ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµâ€™ global HQ in Northampton – also held the Guinness World Record for being the fastest woman to lap the Isle of Man course (114.73 mph) until 2009. In today’s blog, we’re hitting the circuit to look at braking components for dedicated track/race cars – the most demanding form of driving where it’s more vital than ever to rely on strong and enduring stopping power.

Around a decade ago, ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ launched its high performance/motorsport sub-division, ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ Racing – a firm that has become synonymous with range-topping braking at race tracks around the globe.

From road-legal track upgrades to endurance race components, there’s something for every corner of the motorsport spectrum in the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ Racing range, as we will explore below…

Bluestuff

A great all-round sport and race pad – just as comfortable on track as it is performing daily driving duties. Road legal in most territories, making it incredibly versatile.

Bluestuff material exhibits a 0.52μ stable friction once bedded, stable up to a slightly higher 550℃/1000℃ than its sister compound Yellowstuff but with the benefit of a 30% longer lifespan.

Bluestuff has been a track day favourite for years and is the spec pad for the BMW 318i Cup series throughout Europe. New formula is copper free to conform to upcoming environmental legislations.

RP-1â„¢/RP-Xâ„¢ Motorsport Brake Pads

Designed for vehicles driven hard on track, RP-1™ possesses a moderately high friction level of 0.45 between 100 – 750°C (200 – 1400°F). The more progressive response characteristic of RP-1™ makes it well suited for inherently ‘over-servoed’ vehicles where a softer pad material is desirable to allow greater finesse when on the brakes.

RP-X™ possesses a high friction level of 0.55 between 0 – 750°C (Ambient – 1400°F) and achieves a 100% brake effect from cold – an excellent choice for sprint racing or hill climb events, where full brake performance is essential without requiring any ‘warming up’, but also makes RP-X™ well suited to any type of circuit use where a high initial bite and powerful brake response is desirable.

Both RP-series brake pad options are a fantastic choice for track day regulars or out-and-out racers.

Please note: ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµâ€™s RP-series of brake pads are not designed for the road, but may be used in street conditions where local laws permit.

SR-11â„¢/ SR-21â„¢ Sintered Endurance Brake Pads

Whilst the competition struggles to make organic and semi-metallic pads last longer and longer to reach the pinnacle of brake pad durability, ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ has taken a fresh new approach with a blend of compressed and heat fused (sintered) metal powdered alloys, to deliver a brake pad that brakes better and lasts longer than just about everything.

The new SR series comes in two blends, SR-11â„¢ the medium friction version and SR-21â„¢ the higher friction options

Although badged an endurance-grade material, these pads are equally at home in any form of closed-circuit racing, short or long duration.

Please note: ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµâ€™s SR-series of brake pads are not designed for the road, but may be used in street conditions where local laws permit.

Fully Floating Two-Piece Brake Rotors

Craftsmanship meets fine materials in ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµâ€™s highest performing rotor to date. Not simply a ‘bolt-up’ two-piece unit like many of ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµâ€™s competitors offer, they are genuine fully floating units with flat-sided SD square drive buttons, allowing expansion and contraction under the harsh conditions of heavy braking.

Featuring a a black, heat-resistant finish that quickly wears down to the natural iron finish on the disc ring within the first few miles. Any unswept areas remain protected by the black coating, such as the outer edges and inside the pad track, unless burned off due to hard use and high temperatures.

Another major benefit of the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ fine slotted discs is their ability to totally resist cracking common with ‘through-drilled’ discs.

Apollo-Series Brake Calipers

UK designed and made strong-yet-lightweight aluminium four- and six-piston brake calipers, which can be purchased within a Big Brake Kit or as separate components for vehicle builders to convert cars where a dedicated Big Brake Kit is not yet made by ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ.

Packed with cutting-edge tech such as high-temperature fluid seals coupled with full boot type dust seals, lightweight hard-anodised aluminium pistons, staggered piston sizes and fully stainless-steel fittings.

The stunt rider piloted his electric motorcycle through Minneapolis’ ‘Skyway’

ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ ambassador Aaron Colton is undoubtedly one of the world’s most popular street freestyle riders, with his talents extending to multiple disciplines of motorcycling including AMA Pro Road Racing, AMA Flat Track, WORCS (World Off Road Championship Series), Supermoto, and Motocross.

His latest challenge – filmed for a blockbuster Red Bull video – sees him tackling his native Minneapolis’ famous ‘Skyway’ – a system of elevated walkways that connect buildings throughout the downtown area, allowing the 200,000 people who work downtown to move from building to building without ever having to step outside.

For the challenge, Colton decided to opt for his heavily modified, all-electric Alta stunt bike, which proudly sports ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµâ€™ FA-compound brake pads and custom-made rotors all-round. Stunt riders rely heavily on strong, reliable brakes to perform their gravity-defying feats, with Colton entrusting ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ for a number of years.

From a young age, Colton has been fascinated by the architecture and features of the distinctive Skyway system in his home town, and saw the project as a way to celebrate and highlight something that makes Minneapolis truly unique. The opportunity presented a unique and exciting challenge: as the first (and likely the last) motorcycle in the Skyway, what could he accomplish with access to a space designed primarily for foot traffic?

For those who aren’t familiar, the Minneapolis Skyway system is the largest contiguous system of enclosed, second-level bridges in the world—composed of 9.5 miles of pathways connecting 80 city blocks. Within these 80 city blocks, Skyway users have access to corporate offices, bars, restaurants, bakeries, hotels, government services, retail, gyms, grocery stores, liquor stores, banks, doctors, dentists, masseurs, pharmacies, hair and nail salons, dry cleaners, live theaters, three pro sports facilities, art exhibits, and even a church. Though the Skyway was initially devised to reroute pedestrians off the increasingly crowded sidewalks and streets, it has become a haven for citizens of Minneapolis from the inhospitable winter weather.

Whether it was riding an escalator like a treadmill, or hitting speeds of 74 miles per hour, onlookers couldn’t help but stop and stare at the unusual action throughout the skyways and adjoining buildings of downtown Minneapolis.

Colton has built a storied career around his custom-built motorcycles that suit the one-of-a-kind skillset he practices. The Electric Alta bike featured in the video is no exception. A traditional fuel-powered bike ripping through the indoor Skyways system would have caused disruption and distraction, but the electric bike enabled a silent-powerhouse for Colton’s riding in locations never been done before including onstage at Orchestra Hall, inside the Target Center where he pulled off trick shot, and displayed his technical proficiency in the enclosed courtyard of the IDS Center (the tallest building in the state of Minnesota).
