Barry Sheene Classic 鈥� Oliver鈥檚 Mount

鈥淭he Barry Sheene Classic at Oliver鈥檚 Mount provided another fantastic opportunity to race both the A Read Associates Ltd Honda CB350K4 and my own Brook Built Racing SuperTwin. Joining me for the weekend was Ben Long, competing aboard the Brook Built Racing Yamaha YZF-R6.

鈥淲e were treated to fantastic weather throughout the entire event, which is a rarity at Oliver鈥檚 Mount and made for excellent racing conditions all weekend.

鈥淧ractice began positively, with three laps completed on each bike to get settled into the demanding road circuit. Qualifying followed, with strong results across the board. The Brook Built Racing SuperTwin was qualified in 10^th position, while the Honda CB350K4 secured second in class and was the leading 350cc machine on the grid. Ben also qualified successfully for the main 600 Supersport race on the Yamaha R6.鈥�

Road Racing New Classic Solo 鈥� Honda CB350K4

鈥淩ace 1 saw me make a good start and settle into second place early on. Maintaining a consistent pace throughout, I held the position all the way to the chequered flag.

鈥淩ace 2 was another strong outing. After another good start, I maintained solid pace throughout the race and was rewarded with the class victory.

鈥淩ace 3 proved to be another textbook race. A strong performance resulted in a second-place finish, which was enough to secure the overall New Classic Solo class victory for the weekend.鈥�

Pub & Kitchen Twins 鈥� Brook Built Racing SuperTwin

鈥淩ace 1 got underway with a good start, and after a competitive race I brought the bike home in 8^th position.

鈥淚n Race 2, the start wasn鈥檛 quite as strong, but I settled into a solid rhythm and worked my way to an 11^th-place finish.

鈥淩ace 3 was unfortunately less straightforward. I was boxed in approaching the first corner and lost several positions. The race was subsequently red-flagged, but while making my way back to the grid the bike cut out, preventing me from taking the restart and resulting in a non-start for the final race.鈥�

HM Civils Supersport 鈥� Yamaha YZF-R6

鈥淢y teammate, Ben Long, enjoyed a successful weekend aboard the Brook Built Racing Yamaha YZF-R6. Competing in the highly competitive HM Civils Supersport class, Ben continued to improve throughout the event, beating his previous best lap times around Oliver鈥檚 Mount. His efforts were rewarded with consistent finishes of 18^th, 21^st, and 19^th in the three Supersport races, marking another positive step forward in his road racing development.鈥�

Luca Wilkinson aka El Loco #76

Round 1 鈥� Oulton Park

鈥淔riday practice was OK. I didn鈥檛 feel great in the new leathers and had a small issue with the electronics on the bike (quickshifter and blipper), but it was OK. In qualifying I only got two laps in as the clutch failed, so we qualified at the back of the grid.

鈥淩ace 1 鈥� Great start from last up to 14th and trying to push forward, but the new leathers really caused me pain. I鈥檇 never had arm pump and it was the worst feeling. I eventually had to retire on lap seven as it was becoming dangerous. So disappointed, but the right decision.

鈥淩ace 2 鈥� Starting from P14 I had another brilliant start up to P8, settled in and was battling for P9, but the engine started overheating and I eventually got meatballed (black and orange flag). A really disappointing weekend, but the team worked so hard and we鈥檝e now resolved the mechanical issues that were causing the problems. Roll on Donington Park.鈥�

Round 2 鈥� Donington Park

鈥淪traight from my exams, it was a mad dash to get on track. Three laps to settle, then Nick pulled me in, told me what I needed to do, and I beat my previous PB by 2.1 seconds with a 1:41.9 to sit P9 by the end of the session. In qualifying I got onto the pace straight away and on my fourth flying lap went quicker still for a new PB of 1:40.8, putting me ninth on the grid. Really happy with a top-ten grid spot.

鈥淩ace 1 鈥� A wet race! Not the best start as I spun up off the line, and on the first lap through Starkey鈥檚 a rider ahead lost the rear and sent me across the wet grass at 100mph 鈥� new underwear time! I jumped the access road and managed to rejoin just before Coppice, dead last. The safety car came out and caught the riders in front, so we lost the pack and I was 12.5s behind at the restart. I settled in, pushed as hard as I could, had a few little slides but brought it home in 9th, setting a time that put me on the front row in P2. Well pleased.

鈥淩ace 2 鈥� I got a good start but Marley overtook, then up towards McLeans I dived up the inside of Ben to take P2, which I held until he got back past into the Esses. The first couple of laps we were all swapping positions, but with about five laps to go I got back into 2nd and tried to catch Marley. Unfortunately it started to rain slightly and I had a slide out of Melbourne which knocked my confidence, so I dropped back from the leading three. On the last lap Lewis came up my inside into Melbourne, then into Goddards I made a late dive up the inside and held it to the line, with Lewis only 0.01s behind. Very, very happy with the weekend and I can鈥檛 wait to go again at Knockhill.鈥�

Zack Weston 鈥� #35

Round 1 鈥� Oulton Park

鈥淒efinitely not the weekend I thought it would be 鈥� a bit of bad luck with technical issues that made the bike really difficult to ride. I did what I could in the races and brought it home. Donington is next weekend so we go again there. Thank you to everyone who makes it 辫辞蝉蝉颈产濒别.鈥�

Round 2 鈥� Donington Park

鈥淥verall we made a good step with the bike. The team did an amazing job every session, solving technical issues and putting together set-ups. Qualifying wasn鈥檛 amazing as I couldn鈥檛 get into a rhythm, but I got stuck in during the race and moved forward. Race 2 started well and I was battling with a group of riders, but I struggled with rear grip in the latter stages. A massive thank you to the team for all their hard work this weekend. Roll on Knockhill, and thank you to everyone who makes it 辫辞蝉蝉颈产濒别.鈥�

Craig Dance

Round 1 鈥� Oulton Park

鈥淎 difficult weekend getting used to the bike and bedding in all the new gear in FP1 and FP2. Qualifying was decent in P30. I had pace and felt confident, but something felt wrong with the bike as I was basically last in every speed trap, which is unusual for me 鈥� we鈥檙e looking into it.

鈥淩ace 1 鈥� DNF. On lap one a rider ahead had an issue and unfortunately I was directly behind him. I just managed to swerve in time but still ripped my fairings off, which meant I was shown the meatball flag to retire the bike. Race 2 鈥� P31. I definitely felt I could have done a lot better, but it is what it is and we roll on to Round 2. Thanks to the team for getting my bike ready and looking fresh, and thank you to my sponsors who make all this 辫辞蝉蝉颈产濒别.鈥�

Hudson Cooper 鈥� #27

Round 1 鈥� Oulton Park

鈥淭he weekend at Oulton Park started on a very positive note as I continued to build confidence and pace in my debut season in the Moto4 British Cup. After running around the top ten in class throughout free practice, I qualified an impressive P7.

鈥淚n Race 1 I had a great start and was running competitively inside the top five. Unfortunately my race ended on the penultimate lap while running P5, after I lost the front through the dip in the chicane and crashed out of contention. I鈥檇 also like to apologise to Luke Fitchett, who hit my bike during the incident.

鈥淒uring the crash I suffered a significant laceration to my neck after contact with the screen of the bike, as well as a knock to the head. The British Superbike Championship medical team were outstanding, providing exceptional care both at the circuit and during the assessments that followed. I was later diagnosed with concussion which, under championship regulations, ruled me out for 20 days 鈥� meaning I sadly missed Round 2 at Donington Park.

鈥淲hile it was disappointing not to line up, the positives from Oulton Park far outweigh that. Qualifying P7 and battling with the front group for a top-five position showed the progress we鈥檝e made and confirmed we have genuine top-ten pace in this highly competitive championship.

鈥淚 still attended Donington Park for Round 2 and took part in the Moto4 rider fitness test. It was great to support the NW Racing team all weekend, and I was also invited onto the BSB Radio commentary team for the Moto4 class, which was a great experience.

鈥淢y focus now turns to recovery. I鈥檒l keep working on my fitness programme with my personal trainer at Storme CrossFit Ashby and come back stronger, fitter and even more motivated for the next round at Snetterton. A huge thank you to everyone who has messaged and offered support since the crash 鈥� it鈥檚 been massively appreciated. At around five and a half hours long (or until the first bike completes 750km), it was a perfect opportunity to build race fitness, find some rhythm again, and get solid seat time. “The race itself had its challenges. A few red flags and safety car periods played against us, costing time as the field bunched up鈥攂ut that鈥檚 endurance racing. Josh took the start, I handled the middle stints, and Joe closed out the race. Both Josh and Joe set an impressive pace, and I managed a couple of strong 40-minute sessions to support our charge. Thankfully, apart from the stoppages (and we hope everyone involved is okay), the event ran clean for us.

Friday Practice

鈥淔riday鈥檚 practice went well. Small issue with the bike, but it wasn鈥檛 affecting my lap times, so we just rode around it.鈥�

Saturday

Qualifying

鈥淲ent out and pushed on a bit, I knew I didn鈥檛 have to put it on pole, so I just rode smart and pushed for a few laps and put it on P2 with Ollie Sims on P1, with our lap times separated by 0.03 of a second.

Race 1

鈥淪tarted the race but I noticed Ollie hadn鈥檛 gone to the grid. I pulled an 8-second lead after 3 laps and just brought it home in 1st place. Unfortunately, I came in to find out Ollie had crashed in the Minitwins qualifying and broken his collarbone.

Race 2

鈥淧retty similar to race 1; a good start, pulled a big gap and just kept at a consistent pace and brought it home in 1st place and secured the championship win.鈥�

Sunday

Race 3

鈥淚t was cold so I had to think about how to ride so I didn鈥檛 overdo it. I put a gap to 2nd and brought it home in 1st place.鈥�听

Race 4

鈥淢y 1st wet race! Good start and just rode smart but after a few laps I caught some back-markers and lost a lot of time letting a few other riders catch. Sean took me into turn 1 after I ran wide, but I retook the position and pulled a little gap to bring it back home in 1st for the last time of the year and with the championship win.

鈥淔antastic last round with 4 from 4 wins. Big shout out to Ollie who I鈥檝e battled hard with all year, not the way I wanted the year to end. GWS mate.

鈥淚t was the final round of the year for Brook Built Racing at the 33rd and final running of the Gold Cup that鈥檚 run since 1989.

鈥淚t was a team effort, with Russell covering SuperSport and SuperTwin+, and Ben Long on SuperSport.

鈥淲et weather kicked off Saturday鈥檚 qualifying at the legendary Oliver鈥檚 Mount. Grip was there, but confidence took time to build. I qualified for all races 鈥� albeit toward the back 鈥� but Ben Long found his rhythm early, securing P10 in SuperSport B. I ended with a top 10, while Ben got his first win at Olivers Mount. Not bad for the tight and twisty circuit!鈥�

• Race 6 (SuperSport B): I sat this one out to preserve the R6. Ben took full advantage 鈥� hole shot to victory his first win at Oliver鈥檚 Mount!
• Race 7 (SuperTwin): Best start of the weekend, smooth ride to P9.

Practice & Qualifying Week

• Sunday: In favourable conditions, the team completed two laps with a best speed of 114.7mph, a solid start to the week.
• Monday: A red flag incident at Black Dub cut the session short, with Ady stopping safely at Ballaugh.
• Tuesday Evening: Cooler conditions and a delayed start saw riders released in pairs. A strong 116.3mph lap was recorded, with testing focused on shock modifications, including stiffer springs and extended setup.
• Wednesday: No MGP session, but two laps were completed on the Classic SBK Kawasaki ZXR7, averaging 114mph, confirming fuel capacity reliability.
• Thursday & Friday: Further testing and refinements, with laps focused on suspension changes, oil management, and grips.

Race Weekend 鈥� MGP SuperSport & MGP Senior

• Saturday (SuperSport): Despite a pit stop delay due to fuel spillage, the team gained valuable experience in high-pressure conditions, finishing 11th overall with a near-118mph lap.
• Monday (Senior): Starting 4th on the road, Ady moved up to 3rd and maintained strong pace through the opening laps. After a clean 50-second pit stop, the team secured a competitive 7th place finish.
• Unfortunately, both the Classic Superbike and Classic Senior races were cancelled due to weather.

Team Reflections

The 2025 campaign showcased both the performance potential of Brook Built Racing machinery and the resilience of the team. Consistent lap speeds over 114鈥�118mph, combined with successful adjustments to suspension and fuelling strategies, demonstrated clear progress throughout the week.

Team Principal Russell Brook said: 鈥淲e are proud of the effort from everyone involved in Brook Built Racing at this year鈥檚 MGP and Classic TT. The results reflect our determination, and the lessons learned will help us take another step forward next season.鈥�

鈥淭he legendary Oliver鈥檚 Mount circuit once again played host to the Barry Sheene Classic, and this year鈥檚 event offered its usual blend of unpredictability, grit, and glory.鈥�

饾悞饾悮饾惌饾惍饾惈饾悵饾悮饾惒

鈥淭he weekend opened with a wet, untimed three-lap practice session. With slick conditions and little to gain by pushing hard, it was a chance to test grip and settle into the rhythm of the track.

鈥淏y qualifying time, the rain remained but confidence was on the rise. Despite the moisture, a solid performance secured a 13th-place start.

鈥淭eammate Ben Long took to the support race aboard his Yamaha R6 and delivered a commanding performance, holding 2nd place throughout to land another podium at Oliver鈥檚 Mount. Despite poor visibility, Ben鈥檚 consistency paid off. He noted the fog affected how hard he could push, but his pace was impressive nonetheless.

鈥淣ature had the final say as dense fog rolled in, forcing all racing to be halted for the rest of the day.鈥�

饾悞饾惍饾惂饾悵饾悮饾惒

鈥淪unday welcomed clearer skies and fading rain. By the time the first SuperTwins race began, the circuit was largely dry, though lingering damp patches at the hairpins kept everyone alert. Choosing full dry-condition tyres proved mostly effective, and an excellent launch placed the rider in 10th for much of the race. However, with confidence still tentative over the slick sections, two positions slipped away in the final laps, resulting in a 12th-place finish.

鈥淭he second race offered much the same 鈥� a partially dry track and strategic decisions to be made. A less favourable grid position on the inside led to a congested start. Nonetheless, a strong race followed, ending with a respectable 14th-place finish.鈥�

饾悓饾惃饾惂饾悵饾悮饾惒 饾悇饾惎饾悶饾惂饾悽饾惂饾悹

鈥淭hings kicked off smoothly as planned. The goal was to re-familiarise myself with the course before pushing for a qualifying lap in the second session. Unfortunately, due to an incident in another class, that second timed session was cancelled.鈥�

饾悡饾惍饾悶饾惉饾悵饾悮饾惒 饾悇饾惎饾悶饾惂饾悽饾惂饾悹

鈥淲e opened with a timed session, but qualifying ultimately stood based on Monday鈥檚 first outing. I had qualified, though not quite where I hoped to be. The Mike Kerruish Plumbing Lightweight Race got underway, but a sudden downpour after lap one put an early end to racing for the night.鈥�

饾悥饾悶饾悵饾惂饾悶饾惉饾悵饾悮饾惒 饾悇饾惎饾悶饾惂饾悽饾惂饾悹

鈥淩acing resumed with a full restart of Tuesday鈥檚 race, using Monday鈥檚 times to set the grid. I didn鈥檛 have the strongest slot but managed a solid start and enjoyed being back on the legendary 4.25-mile Billown circuit. I finished a respectable 20th in the main race.鈥�

饾悡饾悺饾惍饾惈饾惉饾悵饾悮饾惒 鈥� 饾悜饾悮饾悳饾悶 饾悆饾悮饾惒

鈥淭he rhythm changed with racing held throughout the day. Having made the main race, I was also selected for the consolation race, which turned out to be a competitive scrap among notable riders. I launched brilliantly from the third row, securing second at Ballakeighan, holding it until Cross Four-Ways where I dropped to third. Racing in a tight pack on closed roads demands sharp instincts听鈥� balancing attack and defence while predicting others鈥� moves. The Brook Built Aprilia RS660 proved highly competitive. After easing off on defence, I found myself down in fifth, but I knew I could claw back. I made it to fourth going into the final lap and, after another rider’s misstep at Ballakeighan, grabbed third and held it to the chequered flag. That podium finish was a vital lift for the week.

鈥淭he second Bushy’s Brewery Lightweight Race started as well as could be from the grid position I had. I quickly made up a few positions and enjoyed racing around the Billown circuit; it was a solid ride, to come home in 17th place.鈥�

鈥淚鈥檓 also finding my place as team principal for Brook Built Racing. At the Southern 100, Adrian Harrison piloted the Brook Built Yamaha R6, qualifying for the main SuperSport race and finishing 24th and 21st in his respective outings.鈥�

鈥淕V Racing closes an intense week at Motorland with a Moto2 win and solid performance in Stock600.

鈥淭he GV Racing team completed an action-packed and exciting week at the Motorland Arag贸n track, the venue for the fourth round of the 2025 FIM JuniorGP. With practice sessions, qualifying, and two intense races on Sunday, the team’s results were more than positive: a Moto2 win, key points in Stock600, and the lead in the overall standings in the Stock category, as well as keeping us in the thick of the Moto2 title fight.”

Friday: First solid results in free practice

鈥淭rack activity kicked off on Friday with the first free practice sessions, where the GV RACING riders began setting the pace and working on their setup.

鈥淚n Moto2, Alberto Ferr谩ndez and 脫scar Guti茅rrez improved. Ferr谩ndez positioned himself among the fastest in the final sessions, while Guti茅rrez worked intensively with the technical team to optimise his pace.

鈥淚n Stock600, Iker Garc铆a remained in the top three throughout the day. Joan Santos and Blai Trias also showed competitive pace, while Nicholas Bevilacqua progressed session after session, focused on improving his feeling for Saturday.鈥�

Saturday: Tough and Hard-Fought Qualifying

鈥淪aturday produced very tight qualifying sessions. In Moto2, Ferr谩ndez went straight to Q2 (P7 in Practice) and achieved a competitive P6, while Guti茅rrez won Q1 with a solid P1, although a subsequent penalty relegated him to P28 on the grid.

鈥淚n Stock600, Iker Garc铆a was second in Q2, securing a spot on the front row. Joan Santos qualified P8, Blai Trias P12, and Bevilacqua, after qualifying in Q1, achieved P22.鈥�

Sunday: Victory, Points, and an Intense Race

鈥淭he first Moto2 race brought great joy to the team with the victory of Alberto Ferr谩ndez, who perfectly managed the pace to win solo. In Race 2, Alberto earned a valuable P5 finish and remains in the thick of the championship fight, placing second in the overall standings.

鈥溍搒car Guti茅rrez, penalised on the grid, was unable to finish the first race (DNF), but managed to climb back to P14 in the second race, showing consistency and progress on the track.

鈥淚n Stock600, Iker Garc铆a crossed the finish line in a hard-fought P5, consolidating his lead in the overall championship standings. Blai Trias finished in P9, demonstrating solidity in the race. Joan Santos and Nicholas Bevilacqua were unable to complete the race after being involved in incidents (DNF).鈥�

鈥淚t’s been a very full week. Since Friday, we’ve worked hard in every session, and that was reflected in the results. Alberto’s victory is a huge reward for the entire team. 脫scar had a difficult weekend, but his attitude was top-notch. In Stock600, we were in contention with Iker and Blai, although we’re saddened by not being able to see Joan and Nicholas at the finish line. We’re leaving with the lead in Stock600, second in Moto2, and satisfied that all our work is paying off. Thanks to the entire team, our riders, and those who joined us at Motorland.鈥�

鈥淭he much-anticipated first mainland UK road race of the year did not disappoint 鈥� great weather, a legendary circuit, and my return to solo racing after last year鈥檚 injury.

鈥淛oining me were teammates Ben Long and Adrian Harrison, representing Brook Built Racing in style. Ben competed in the SuperSport 600 on the R6, while Aidy rode the supported ZXR750 in Classic Superbike 鈥� both scoring impressive podium finishes!鈥�

Practice & Qualifying

鈥淔ree Practice went smoothly as I re-familiarised myself with Oliver鈥檚 Mount. In qualifying, I struggled to find a clean lap due to traffic, eventually placing 14th 鈥� which put me 15th on the grid (no #13 slot). Not ideal, as it meant starting on the inside, where getting boxed in is a real risk.鈥�

Race 1 鈥� Saturday

鈥淎 clean start is vital at this narrow, technical circuit. I launched well but got caught behind a group mid-pack and lost a few spots. Managed to make up some ground at the first hairpin and brought it home in 16th 鈥� not bad for my first race back after over six months off the bike.鈥�

Races 2 & 3 鈥� Sunday

鈥淩ace 2: A better grid spot (outside line) and a couple of empty slots ahead gave me a cleaner start. I pushed into 10th by the first corner and ran as high as 9th. Mid-race, yellow and adhesion flags forced me to back off 鈥� got passed and lost momentum, finishing 12th.

鈥淩ace 3: Got a strong start, but the race was red-flagged on lap 2. During the restart, I noticed my oil warning light staying on 鈥� turned out to be a loose wire, but I chose to pull in on the warm-up lap. Better safe than sorry 鈥� no engine or track risks worth taking.鈥�
