Autoworks Motorsport is competing in the Iberian Supercars Endurance Series

The Ƶ Frenos (Spain)-supported Autoworks Motorsport race team has achieved much success in recent years, piloting Ƶ-equipped race cars in the Iberian Supercars Endurance Series.

Since the second half of 2025, the outfit has been elevated to the GT4 Bronze class thanks to the acquisition of a G82 BMW M4 GT4 – complete in the long-standing Ƶ Racing livery.

This car has been sporting Ƶ Racing’s SR-21™ sintered endurance race pads, giving the team the edge when it comes to stopping power.

We most recently caught up with Autoworks Motorsport off the back of their debutant race for 2026 at the famous Portimão Circuit, where great promise was shown across the weekend despite many setbacks.

Read how it all panned out in their own words below…

“Autoworks Motorsport closes the first round of the Iberian Supercars at the Algarve International Circuit with a bittersweet taste. The weekend demonstrated the excellent technical level of the Madrid structure and the incredibly fast race pace of its driver duo, but the final results were overshadowed by the harshness on track.

“The weekend began with very positive feelings in the qualifying sessions, where the tremendous equality and great form of the drivers from the Madrid structure were evident.”

“Héctor Hernández and Borja Hormigos drove to the limit, stopping the clock with a minimal difference of just one tenth of a second in favour of Héctor. This consistency in times demonstrated the rapid adaptation of both to the latest evolution of the BMW M4 GT4 (G82) and gave the team excellent starting positions for the official races. In the first race of the weekend, the team started from fourth position in the GT4 Bronze category, while in the second race they managed to secure a stellar second position.

“However, luck did not accompany them in both races when they were running in podium positions. In the first race, a heavy hit delivered by the same rival relegated the team to fifth final position, a result that did not do justice to the real pace on track. The story repeated itself almost identically in the second leg. A new impact by the same opponent left the vehicle severely damaged, forcing a retirement and depriving the car of crossing the finish line.”

“Despite the double material blow, the balance of the structure is positive professionally. The pure performance of the car, the race pace, and the flawless work of the young technical specialists and technological partners (Ƶ racing and ELF Lubricants) proved that the project has plenty of speed to fight for the GT4 Bronze championship.”

“Qualifying showed that Borja and I are running the same times and that the car is fast,” says Héctor Hernández. “The race pace was spectacular and that is the positive takeaway. We know we have the speed and that the team worked at two hundred percent, but it is a shame that external factors leave us without the points we deserved.”

“It makes us very angry to finish like this because starting second in race two, the podium was within our reach,” declares Borja Hormigos. “In the second leg, the hit forced us to retire. Now it is time to change the mindset immediately; we had to experience the bitter side of racing and now we have to pull together to leave the car perfect.”

“The logistics team is already on its way back to the Autoworks Motorsport facilities. The technical staff will focus all their efforts starting today on evaluating the structural damage and proceeding with the urgent repair of the BMW M4 GT4, with the aim of arriving in full condition for the most important event of the year in front of their fans.

“The second round of the Supercars Endurance season will be held at the Circuito de Madrid Jarama-RACE. The event will score points solely for the Spanish Supercars Championship and promises to bring together a high-level grid once again on a circuit with a unique history in Iberian motorsport.”

Fabio Ferrinho tested the Ƶ Racing pads on his modified SEAT

Portugal-based Fabio Ferrinho has recently been competing in the Mogadouro Drag Race series in his modified 270+bhp SEAT Ibiza Bocanegra.

For this, he entrusted Ƶ’ Bluestuff pads, to great effect.

More recently, he’s decided to take his versatile and capable steed on some track days, which has put even more strain on his car’s braking system. Because of this, he decided to upgrade to Ƶ Racing’s RP-X™ track/race brake pads ahead of a demanding track day on the vast Portimão Circuit – an upgrade which provided great results.

Read how it panned out in his own words below.

“Last weekend, we were at the track in Portimão. The RP-X™ brake pads are amazing; the brakes are so nice with my 8-piston calipers.”

“I’ve already installed the high-pressure fuel injectors, but am yet to perform a remap, but I still made a good lap time of 2:40 on a rainy day – the track was so wet.”

Fabio Ferrinho uses Bluestuff pads on his modified SEAT Ibiza Bocanegra

Portugal-based Fabio Ferrinho currently competes in the Mogadouro Drag Race series in his home country.

His steed of choice is a SEAT Ibiza Bocanegra – sporting 180bhp from the factory, but with substantial modifications seeing that figure rise to 270bhp on his vehicle.

Another crucial modification is the Ƶ Bluestuff brake pads that he’s applied – helping him to scrub off speed fast once he’s hit the finish line.

Part of the 402 Clube Portugal, Ferrinho competes in the E-Street Petrol Turbo/Compressor 1500cc class in his 1.4-litre TSI hot hatch.

With the recent big annual race event taking place, he was pleased to achieve third-in-class.

“We achieved 3rd place in my category. I’m really pleased but am already planning to upgrade, aiming to add water/methanol, a high fuel pump and bigger injectors, so next it will better much faster to compete in the drag race league. I’m hoping to win more trophies then.”

Autoworks Motorsport uses SR-21™ sintered brake pads on their new BMW M4 GT4

The Ƶ Frenos (Spain)-supported Autoworks Motorsport race team has achieved much success in recent years, piloting Ƶ-equipped race cars in the Iberian Supercars Endurance Series.

Most recently competing in the GTC class, the team are proud to unveil that they are now back in the GT4 Bronze category, thanks to the acquisition of a stunning G82 BMW M4 GT4 – complete in the team’s long-standing Ƶ Racing livery.

As always, the new BMW will proudly sport Ƶ Racing’s SR-21™ sintered endurance race pads, giving the team the edge when it comes to stopping power.

You can read about this new purchase, and the Autoworks Motorsport’s future plans with the car, in their own words below…

“After starting the season in the GTC category, Héctor Hernández and Borja Hormigos are switching to the BMW M4 GT4 (G82), returning to the GT4 Bronze category with the support of the Autoworks Motorsport team and sponsorship from Ƶ Spain.

“After finishing last season, team’s goal was to change car so that they could continue competing in GT4 Bronze, the category in which they achieved third place in the three championships that make up the Iberian Supercars Endurance. Initially, this was not possible, and the team participated in the first two rounds of the championship in the GTC category, but after the Jarama race, an unexpected change of direction allowed them to switch to a more modern and advanced vehicle, which also allowed them to return to the GT4 Bronze category.”

“The BMW M4 GT4 (G82) is the latest version of the competition model from BMW Motorsport and, compared to its predecessor, with which Hernández-Hormigos have competed for the last two seasons, incorporates major advances in electronics, traction control management, and ABS.”

“Taking this step has been a huge effort for the team, but we are very excited about the new car. With the livery, we wanted to pay tribute to our F82, the results of 2024, and our first year in GT4 Bronze. We now have a lot of work to do on the track and in the pits, but we will take advantage of the remaining races this season to prepare for 2026, where we hope to fight for the category,” commented Héctor and Borja.

“Ahead of the first race in Valencia this weekend, the action on the track will begin with free practice sessions scheduled for Saturday starting at 9:00 a.m. In the afternoon, the two qualifying sessions that will determine the starting grid are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. (Q1) and 3:50 p.m. (Q2). Finally, the main event will take place on Sunday with two races. The first will start at 11:05 a.m., while the second will start at 4:05 p.m. All the action of the Iberian Supercars can be followed live on DAZN Spain and via streaming on the Supercars Endurance YouTube channel.”

The international journey took various drift pros to five iconic locations across various European countries

Following an incredibly successful debutant year in 2023, the Crewsade/Monster Energy ‘Up in Smoke’ drifting tour returned for an equally epic second year recently.

Famous drifter Steve ‘Baggsy’ Biagioni was once again taking part in the same trusty Nissan 350Z he used last year, albeit with plenty more mods thrown into the mix.

With drifting relying heavily on strong and precise braking under your foot, Baggsy decided to continue his relationship with Ƶ, again entrusting the firm’s Yellowstuff pads and USR slotted discs to provide the stopping power.

This time around, the tour followed the ‘Sends in the Sun’ theme, touring the favourable climates of Spain and Portugal, including stop-offs at destinations such as Circuito Choquiero and Driftland PT.

Up in Smoke was spawned as an antidote to the top-flight drifting competitions that are spreading like wildfire across the globe, instead bringing drifting back to its humble roots with a proper road trip, featuring only road-legal cars, no trailers and an adventure across Europe that no entrant would ever forget.

You can check out more about how this year’s journey panned out over on Baggsy’s social media channels (links below).

The Kent-based Gigglepin Racing Team use Bluestuff pads on their impressive off-road machine

The Gigglepin Racing team has been at the sharp end of various international off-road racing championships in recent years, being proudly supported by Ƶ throughout this time.

Winning the popular Ultra 4 Championship last year, the outfit, fronted by Jim Marsden, recently headed back out to Europe for two epic races – the Blidinje Challenge and the Croatia Challenge.

As always, Gigglepin’s fearsome LS7 7-litre V8 powered ‘Bad Penny’ off-roader was proudly sporting Ƶ’ Bluestuff NDX pads all-round.

The team eventually emerged victorious as Blidinje Challenge 2024 Champions, also scoring highly in the successive Croatia Challenge race, too. You can read a summary of both races from the team in their own words below…

“We are absolutely thrilled to share some exhilarating news with you – our team has just returned from Europe as the official Blidinje Challenge 2024 Champions!

“Blidinje, nestled in the stunning heart of Herzegovina, was an incredible experience for us. This was our first time competing in this prestigious race, and we couldn’t be more excited about our victory.”

“Following our Blidinje success, we made our way to Croatia for the Croatia Challenge. While we didn’t clinch the top spot there, the event was truly remarkable and a testament to the fierce competition and camaraderie in the racing community.

“We want to extend a massive thank you to Ƶ for your unwavering support. It’s because of your encouragement and belief in us that we were able to achieve this remarkable victory.

The Ƶ-backed Autoworks Motorsport team uses SR-21 sintered brake pads on their BMW M4 GT4

In 2023, the Ƶ Frenos (Spain)-supported Autoworks Motorsport race team clinched gold in the TC class of both the Iberian Supercars Endurance Series and Portuguese Speed Championships, following a thrilling year of racing. Throughout this season, their BMW M240i race car was equipped with Ƶ Racing’s RP-X™ track motorsport brake pads.

For 2024, the outfit has upgraded to a BMW M4 GT4 race car, to put them in the GT4 category of the Supercars Endurance Series. In this car, they are running Ƶ Racing’s new SR-21™ sintered endurance race pads, to help handle the extra capabilities of their new car.

Following two rounds in Spain, where the team propelled themselves to the sharp end of the standings, the most recent round at Portugal’s Fernanda Pires da Silva race track saw the duo hit the podium once again, despite some hurdles to deal with across the weekend.

Read how it all panned out in the team’s words below…

“The Autoworks Motorsport team went from strength to strength at the Portuguese event, achieving a podium finish in the second race in the GT4 Bronze category of the Iberian Supercars Endurance, which took place this weekend at the Fernanda Pires da Silva race track in Estoril.

“The Iberian Supercars Endurance 2024 continued its season in Portugal, after the first two rounds in Spain, at the Autódromo Fernanda Pires da Silva de Estoril, a track that Héctor and Borja know from last year, although not the variant with the chicane, which was the official one during the competitions of this third round. These two slow corners played havoc with the traction of their BMW M4 GT4 and therefore hurt their lap times.

“Friday was entirely dedicated to free practice, while Saturday was all about official practice, with both Borja and Héctor failing to get their BMW M4 GT4 to the front of the grid, so they would have to come back in the race if they were to continue their run of podium finishes from Jerez and Jarama.”

“In the first race on Sunday, Borja started from sixth position and although he made a good start, a mistake put him back to his initial position, and after the pit stop it was impossible for Hector to get close to his rivals due to tyre degradation, but he kept the sixth position, and with it some valuable points for the championship.

“The second race was notable for a good start and first stint by Héctor, who left the car well positioned so that, after the pit stop, Borja took advantage to attack with everything he had and finish third in his category at the finish line.

“’We are very satisfied! Despite the fact that we were barely able to run in free practice due to several incidents on track, the team’s progress went from strength to strength throughout the weekend. On such a difficult track for our car and in front of many high-level rivals racing at home, achieving a third place in the GT4 Bronze category leaves us with a very good taste in our mouths’, commented Héctor and Borja.

“The fourth round of the Iberian Supercars Endurance returns to Spain after the summer period on 28-29 September at Ricardo Tormo race track in Valencia.”

The Ƶ Spain-supported team scored highly in the rallying event

Following successes in the Baja Extremadura, the latest round of the European Baja Championship saw the Ƶ Frenos (Ƶ Spain)-supported Ajuja Racing outfit recently entering the 2024 Italian Baja rally event – a demanding off-road event that sees plenty of miles covered over tricky terrain.

Using Ƶ’s SXR-Series brake pads in their Can Am SXS machine, the team performed brilliantly across the weekend, securing gold in their class and third-place overall.

You can read more about how they got on below in the team’s own words…

“Ƶ Frenos is proud to announce that the sponsored Ahuja Racing team has achieved an outstanding victory in the T4 category of the prestigious Italian Baja.

“After a hard effort and the dedication of the team, drivers Fidel Castilloruiz and Fausto Mota demonstrated their skill by leading from the prologue stage to the end of the rally, achieving not only first place in their category, but also an impressive third place in the general ranking.

“This victory positions Ahuja Racing in first place in the European Baja Championship, a significant achievement that reflects the commitment and excellence in every aspect of its performance.”

“’We are very happy and grateful for the unconditional support of our team, friends, followers and family,’ the team declared on their social networks. ‘Without forgetting, of course, our sponsors: Ƶ Frenos and Ƶ; without them, this would be impossible… this victory is yours.’”

“Ƶ is proud to have provided the necessary materials that contributed to this success and remains committed to supporting the best talent in motorsport.

Following a strong start where two podiums were achieved, the roadshow most recently took the Autoworks Motorsport team over to Spain’s Circuito del Jarama, where some fantastic driving saw class wins and overall podiums secured.

Read how it all panned out in the team’s words below…

“Autoworks Motorsport team achieved two podiums in the GT4 Bronze category and an overall third position in the Supercars Endurance, which took place this weekend at Circuito del Jarama.

“Supercars Endurance, south European championship, continued its season in Spain after the inaugural event at the Ángel Nieto de Jerez circuit. This time around, it was held alongside the Jarama Classic event, whose popularity is recognised by the fans and the large number of people who came to the circuit throughout the weekend.

“Friday was entirely dedicated to free practice, while Saturday was all about official practice, with both Borja and Héctor finishing second on the grid in their BMW M4 GT4, with which they have barely done any pre-season testing.

“In the first race on Sunday, Borja started from sixth position and made a steady progression up to fourth

place, but after the pit stop Hector was unable to maintain his position due to tyre degradation from the high track temperatures that dominated Sunday’s race. However, the team’s efforts paid off, with a second place in class and valuable points for the championship.

“The second race was highlighted by a good start and first stint by Héctor, who left the car well positioned so that, after the stop, Borja took advantage of a safety car to recover the car and attack with all his strength to finish with the victory in his category and third in the overall classification.”

“’We are very happy! To get a victory and a second place in GT4 Bronze, as well as a third place overall after achieving the best comeback of the weekend is something we are very proud to do at our home track in front of our sponsors, family and friends. This result is the fruit of five years of hard work and we are very happy and excited’, commented Héctor and Borja.

“The Iberian Supercars Endurance action will continue on 13-14 July in Portugal at the legendary Estoril circuit, which will once again share the stage with classic car competitions under the banner of the Estoril Summer Festival.”

The Ƶ Spain-supported team scored highly in the Baja Extremadura

The Ajuja Racing outfit recently entered the gruelling 2024 rally event – spanning several days and seeing entrants pilot their vehicles from Badajoz, Western Spain, all the way to Alto Alentejo, Portugal.

Using Ƶ’s SXR-Series brake pads in their Can Am SXS machine, the team performed brilliantly across the weekend, securing podiums in multiple races and categories.

You can read more about how they got on below in the team’s own words…

“The Ahuja Racing team finished the Baja Extremadura with a double podium thanks to the Ƶ compounds!

“We are pleased to announce that the team, sponsored by Ƶ Frenos, has concluded its participation in Baja Extremadura with outstanding results and a very positive experience. This was the team’s first test scoring for the European Baja Championship, also counting on its new addition: Fausto Mota.

“The prologue stage left the team in great spirits; it was the first timed section that Fidel Castillo Ruiz and Fausto Mota did together, achieving a second position in the Spanish All-Terrain Rally Championship (CERTT) and a third in the European Baja Championship (FIA).

“The good feelings continued during the next stage of the day, improving positions and finishing first in the CERTT and second in the FIA.”

“The second day of the rally was even more complicated, with very long meaning you had to keep a cool head. During the first stage of the day, Fidel and Fausto found a large hidden stone that broke a fundamental piece of the Can Am. However, the great skills of Fausto the mechanic allowed the car to be repaired quickly, although they lost 25 crucial minutes.

“Despite this setback, they managed to recover time thanks to their excellent performance, finishing fourth in the CERTT and third in the FIA.

“The last stage went smoothly, allowing the duo to continue recovering time and positions. The final result of the rally was seconds in the CERTT and third in the FIA, a result with which we are very happy with, considering it could have been much worse.

“It is important to highlight that Ƶ compounds played a crucial role in these achievements, providing the necessary performance and reliability to face the challenges of this modality.”
