Autoworks Motorsport is competing in the Iberian Supercars Endurance Series

The Ƶ Frenos (Spain)-supported Autoworks Motorsport race team has achieved much success in recent years, piloting Ƶ-equipped race cars in the Iberian Supercars Endurance Series.

Since the second half of 2025, the outfit has been elevated to the GT4 Bronze class thanks to the acquisition of a G82 BMW M4 GT4 – complete in the long-standing Ƶ Racing livery.

This car has been sporting Ƶ Racing’s SR-21™ sintered endurance race pads, giving the team the edge when it comes to stopping power.

We most recently caught up with Autoworks Motorsport off the back of their debutant race for 2026 at the famous Portimão Circuit, where great promise was shown across the weekend despite many setbacks.

Read how it all panned out in their own words below…

“Autoworks Motorsport closes the first round of the Iberian Supercars at the Algarve International Circuit with a bittersweet taste. The weekend demonstrated the excellent technical level of the Madrid structure and the incredibly fast race pace of its driver duo, but the final results were overshadowed by the harshness on track.

“The weekend began with very positive feelings in the qualifying sessions, where the tremendous equality and great form of the drivers from the Madrid structure were evident.”

“Héctor Hernández and Borja Hormigos drove to the limit, stopping the clock with a minimal difference of just one tenth of a second in favour of Héctor. This consistency in times demonstrated the rapid adaptation of both to the latest evolution of the BMW M4 GT4 (G82) and gave the team excellent starting positions for the official races. In the first race of the weekend, the team started from fourth position in the GT4 Bronze category, while in the second race they managed to secure a stellar second position.

“However, luck did not accompany them in both races when they were running in podium positions. In the first race, a heavy hit delivered by the same rival relegated the team to fifth final position, a result that did not do justice to the real pace on track. The story repeated itself almost identically in the second leg. A new impact by the same opponent left the vehicle severely damaged, forcing a retirement and depriving the car of crossing the finish line.”

“Despite the double material blow, the balance of the structure is positive professionally. The pure performance of the car, the race pace, and the flawless work of the young technical specialists and technological partners (Ƶ racing and ELF Lubricants) proved that the project has plenty of speed to fight for the GT4 Bronze championship.”

“Qualifying showed that Borja and I are running the same times and that the car is fast,” says Héctor Hernández. “The race pace was spectacular and that is the positive takeaway. We know we have the speed and that the team worked at two hundred percent, but it is a shame that external factors leave us without the points we deserved.”

“It makes us very angry to finish like this because starting second in race two, the podium was within our reach,” declares Borja Hormigos. “In the second leg, the hit forced us to retire. Now it is time to change the mindset immediately; we had to experience the bitter side of racing and now we have to pull together to leave the car perfect.”

“The logistics team is already on its way back to the Autoworks Motorsport facilities. The technical staff will focus all their efforts starting today on evaluating the structural damage and proceeding with the urgent repair of the BMW M4 GT4, with the aim of arriving in full condition for the most important event of the year in front of their fans.

“The second round of the Supercars Endurance season will be held at the Circuito de Madrid Jarama-RACE. The event will score points solely for the Spanish Supercars Championship and promises to bring together a high-level grid once again on a circuit with a unique history in Iberian motorsport.”

Ƶ is an official partner of the GT Cup for the 2026 season

Ƶ Racing – the high-performance arm of Ƶ – is an official partner of the GT Cup Championship for its 2026 season.

All cars on the GT Cup grid are sporting the Ƶ Racing logo on their door number boards, as well as appearing in other championship branding and literature.

Following the pre-season media day at Donington Park in March, the roadshow returned to the prestigious Derbyshire-based venue for Round 1 of the championship, where a gruelling 100-minute race under challenging conditions made for some exciting racing.

Read the full report below from the series…

“A day of mixed weather was no challenge for PB Racing with JMH’s Peter Erceg and Marcus Clutton, as they prevailed in a thrilling 100-minute battle at Donington Park over GT3 debutants Team BRIT.

“Qualifying on pole, it looked as though BRIT’s Jamie Falvey and Peter Fullick had put themselves in prime position for a brace of victories in their BMW M4 GT3. But pre-race rain threw a spanner in the works and changing strategies opened the door for experienced hands Erceg and Clutton to power ahead to Group GT3 and Overall glory.

“GTC was a thriller from the start, and it was JMH who walked away from the East Midlands with two wins for the team as Frank Morris and James Pickford powered to the Group win. SVG Motorsport took a double as Marc Elman and Cameron Pratt-Thompson snatched GTH, whilst a gamble to go on slicks before the competition gave Neil Wallace and Ian Astley the foundation to take GTA honours. Paul Bailey and David Brabham did a GTO double in their new Mercedes-AMG whip with SB Rce Engineering.”

Qualifying

“Compared to Saturday’s greasy conditions, Sunday’s sunshine-soaked qualifying session was an opportunity for drivers to bolt on a set of Pirelli slick tyres and go flat out for 15 minutes.

“The first session resulted in a comprehensive GTH/GTA double for SVG Motorsport – but only just. In GTH, it appeared as though 24-7 Motorsport’s Charlie Benson had got the Group pole in his Ginetta G56 but Cameron Pratt-Thompson – in his own G56 – was on a charge, and reducing the deficit lap-on-lap. As the chequered flag came out, Pratt-Thompson reached his zenith – snatching pole by 0.031sec with a 1m33.509s effort.

“In GTA, Ian Astley got behind the wheel of the #24 BMW M4 and put his foot down. His first lap put him to the top of the group and he improved from there, finally settling on a 1m35.266sec to put himself ahead of the Raceworks Motorsport Ginetta of Daniel Quintero on the grid.

“Come the second session, there was no change in the intensity with GT3 and GTC machines mixing it at the top for the overall pole. The GT3s of Falvey and Erceg took turns swapping the top spot with the GTC Lamborghini Super Trofeo of Mike Taylor, every time logged resulting in a different car in the hot seat.

“But Round One winner Falvey continued his hot streak in the BMW M4 GT3 to take GT3 and Overall pole with a 1m26.950sec, two-tenths ahead of Taylor’s Triple M Motorsport Lamborghini which took GTC honours. Erceg took third, and a strong spot on the second row for the afternoon’s 100-minute encounter.

“Bailey rounded out the pole-sitters, as he continues to get to grips with his eye-catching Mercedes-AMG GT in Group GTO.”

GT Cup 100

“The first 100-minute extravaganza of the season proved thrilling in more ways than one, as lunch-time rain drenched the circuit and meant wet tyres were the name of the game. On the start, Falvey converted pole into an early lead, fending off pressure initially from Taylor – who made a lightning start in the Super Trofeo – and then Erceg, who quickly made the most of the changeable conditions in his Audi R8 LMS.

“Also making quick work of gaining places was Triple M Motorsport’s Rob Garofall who moved up from third to the lead of GTH as the race went green after starting under the safety car. With Erceg looking to pounce on any opportunities, Taylor couldn’t take too many risks or he’d risk losing his second overall.

“As the leaders started to pass traffic, the benefits of an increasingly dry line were negated by having to be careful getting themselves past. Come the stops, teams opted to play it safe except for SVG Motorsport, as Ian Astley elected to give it a go and as Neil Wallace brought the GTA BMW M4 GT4 in from second, wets were swapped for slicks and Astley went out to hunt down erstwhile leaders Raceworks Motorsport.

“For others, the choice to stick with what they had looked like it might go against them as the additional forecasted rain failed to materialise. Thankfully for them, a late safety car to recover a stranded car gave them the perfect opportunity to take a free stop and change onto the dry rubber.

“Taking over from Erceg, Marcus Clutton initially set blistering pace on increasingly overheating wets to overhaul the Team Brit crew, and once the safety car came back in he sprinted to the flag to take a first Group and Overall win of the season for the PB Racing with JMH team.”

“GTC proved thrilling to the end, as positions kept changing throughout. Making the most of trials and tribulations for their competition, JMH scored a double Group victory as Frank Morris and James Pickford bested fellow Lamborghini duo Taylor and Charlie Digby. Jack Gadd and Dan Brown kept up their strong start to the season for DWG Motorsport with Topcats as they completed an all-Super Trofeo podium.

“Sticking to the plan benefitted SVG Motorsport as the team picked up a pair of wins in both GTH and GTA. The former proved captivating throughout, with Marc Elman and Cameron Pratt-Thompson ending in the hot seat as the music stopped. The Ginetta racers finished ahead of Jolt Racing, John Ingram and Rupert Williams picking up another podium finish on their return to GT Cup. 24-7 Motorsport’s Ben Taylor and Charlie Benson rounded out the GTH top three.

“In GTA, Astley’s call to go onto slick at the mandatory pitstop proved race-winning. Getting up to speed quickly, they pipped Raceworks’ Andrew Perry and Daniel Quintero to take the win. GTO honours went the way of Paul Bailey and David Brabham – the latter extracting every ounce of speed possible out of their Mercedes-AMG GT to finish fourth overall.”

After a thrilling weekend of endurance racing to start the year, the GT Cup Championship brings Sprint racing back into the mix for the next round of the year at Snetterton on 16/17 May.

Autoworks Motorsport uses SR-21™ sintered brake pads on their new BMW M4 GT4

The Ƶ Frenos (Spain)-supported Autoworks Motorsport race team has achieved much success in recent years, piloting Ƶ-equipped race cars in the Iberian Supercars Endurance Series.

Most recently competing in the GTC class, the team are proud to unveil that they are now back in the GT4 Bronze category, thanks to the acquisition of a stunning G82 BMW M4 GT4 – complete in the team’s long-standing Ƶ Racing livery.

As always, the new BMW will proudly sport Ƶ Racing’s SR-21™ sintered endurance race pads, giving the team the edge when it comes to stopping power.

You can read about this new purchase, and the Autoworks Motorsport’s future plans with the car, in their own words below…

“After starting the season in the GTC category, Héctor Hernández and Borja Hormigos are switching to the BMW M4 GT4 (G82), returning to the GT4 Bronze category with the support of the Autoworks Motorsport team and sponsorship from Ƶ Spain.

“After finishing last season, team’s goal was to change car so that they could continue competing in GT4 Bronze, the category in which they achieved third place in the three championships that make up the Iberian Supercars Endurance. Initially, this was not possible, and the team participated in the first two rounds of the championship in the GTC category, but after the Jarama race, an unexpected change of direction allowed them to switch to a more modern and advanced vehicle, which also allowed them to return to the GT4 Bronze category.”

“The BMW M4 GT4 (G82) is the latest version of the competition model from BMW Motorsport and, compared to its predecessor, with which Hernández-Hormigos have competed for the last two seasons, incorporates major advances in electronics, traction control management, and ABS.”

“Taking this step has been a huge effort for the team, but we are very excited about the new car. With the livery, we wanted to pay tribute to our F82, the results of 2024, and our first year in GT4 Bronze. We now have a lot of work to do on the track and in the pits, but we will take advantage of the remaining races this season to prepare for 2026, where we hope to fight for the category,” commented Héctor and Borja.

“Ahead of the first race in Valencia this weekend, the action on the track will begin with free practice sessions scheduled for Saturday starting at 9:00 a.m. In the afternoon, the two qualifying sessions that will determine the starting grid are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. (Q1) and 3:50 p.m. (Q2). Finally, the main event will take place on Sunday with two races. The first will start at 11:05 a.m., while the second will start at 4:05 p.m. All the action of the Iberian Supercars can be followed live on DAZN Spain and via streaming on the Supercars Endurance YouTube channel.”

The Ƶ-backed Autoworks Motorsport team uses SR-21 sintered brake pads on their BMW M4 GT4

In 2023, the Ƶ Frenos (Spain)-supported Autoworks Motorsport race team clinched gold in the TC class of both the Iberian Supercars Endurance Series and Portuguese Speed Championships, following a thrilling year of racing. Throughout this season, their BMW M240i race car was equipped with Ƶ Racing’s RP-X™ track motorsport brake pads.

For 2024, the outfit has upgraded to a BMW M4 GT4 race car, to put them in the GT4 category of the Supercars Endurance Series. In this car, they are running Ƶ Racing’s new SR-21™ sintered endurance race pads, to help handle the extra capabilities of their new car.

Following two rounds in Spain, where the team propelled themselves to the sharp end of the standings, the most recent round at Portugal’s Fernanda Pires da Silva race track saw the duo hit the podium once again, despite some hurdles to deal with across the weekend.

Read how it all panned out in the team’s words below…

“The Autoworks Motorsport team went from strength to strength at the Portuguese event, achieving a podium finish in the second race in the GT4 Bronze category of the Iberian Supercars Endurance, which took place this weekend at the Fernanda Pires da Silva race track in Estoril.

“The Iberian Supercars Endurance 2024 continued its season in Portugal, after the first two rounds in Spain, at the Autódromo Fernanda Pires da Silva de Estoril, a track that Héctor and Borja know from last year, although not the variant with the chicane, which was the official one during the competitions of this third round. These two slow corners played havoc with the traction of their BMW M4 GT4 and therefore hurt their lap times.

“Friday was entirely dedicated to free practice, while Saturday was all about official practice, with both Borja and Héctor failing to get their BMW M4 GT4 to the front of the grid, so they would have to come back in the race if they were to continue their run of podium finishes from Jerez and Jarama.”

“In the first race on Sunday, Borja started from sixth position and although he made a good start, a mistake put him back to his initial position, and after the pit stop it was impossible for Hector to get close to his rivals due to tyre degradation, but he kept the sixth position, and with it some valuable points for the championship.

“The second race was notable for a good start and first stint by Héctor, who left the car well positioned so that, after the pit stop, Borja took advantage to attack with everything he had and finish third in his category at the finish line.

“’We are very satisfied! Despite the fact that we were barely able to run in free practice due to several incidents on track, the team’s progress went from strength to strength throughout the weekend. On such a difficult track for our car and in front of many high-level rivals racing at home, achieving a third place in the GT4 Bronze category leaves us with a very good taste in our mouths’, commented Héctor and Borja.

“The fourth round of the Iberian Supercars Endurance returns to Spain after the summer period on 28-29 September at Ricardo Tormo race track in Valencia.”

Following a strong start where two podiums were achieved, the roadshow most recently took the Autoworks Motorsport team over to Spain’s Circuito del Jarama, where some fantastic driving saw class wins and overall podiums secured.

Read how it all panned out in the team’s words below…

“Autoworks Motorsport team achieved two podiums in the GT4 Bronze category and an overall third position in the Supercars Endurance, which took place this weekend at Circuito del Jarama.

“Supercars Endurance, south European championship, continued its season in Spain after the inaugural event at the Ángel Nieto de Jerez circuit. This time around, it was held alongside the Jarama Classic event, whose popularity is recognised by the fans and the large number of people who came to the circuit throughout the weekend.

“Friday was entirely dedicated to free practice, while Saturday was all about official practice, with both Borja and Héctor finishing second on the grid in their BMW M4 GT4, with which they have barely done any pre-season testing.

“In the first race on Sunday, Borja started from sixth position and made a steady progression up to fourth

place, but after the pit stop Hector was unable to maintain his position due to tyre degradation from the high track temperatures that dominated Sunday’s race. However, the team’s efforts paid off, with a second place in class and valuable points for the championship.

“The second race was highlighted by a good start and first stint by Héctor, who left the car well positioned so that, after the stop, Borja took advantage of a safety car to recover the car and attack with all his strength to finish with the victory in his category and third in the overall classification.”

“’We are very happy! To get a victory and a second place in GT4 Bronze, as well as a third place overall after achieving the best comeback of the weekend is something we are very proud to do at our home track in front of our sponsors, family and friends. This result is the fruit of five years of hard work and we are very happy and excited’, commented Héctor and Borja.

“The Iberian Supercars Endurance action will continue on 13-14 July in Portugal at the legendary Estoril circuit, which will once again share the stage with classic car competitions under the banner of the Estoril Summer Festival.”

The Autoworks Motorsport outfit won gold in the TC class of both the Iberian Supercars Endurance and Portuguese Speed Championships

The Spain-based Autoworks Motorsport team, backed by Ƶ Frenos España (Ƶ Spain), is currently creating waves in the Iberian Peninsula thanks to a string of impressive results.

Competing in the TC class of both the Iberian Supercars Endurance and Portuguese Speed Championships, the team is comprised of talented drivers Héctor Hernández and Borja Hormigos and uses a BMW M240i race car proudly sporting Ƶ Racing’s RP-X™ track motorsport brake pads.

With the final round of both series recently descending onto Portugal’s Circuito do Estoril, the team once again pulled out a thrilling performance to ensure well-earned victories in both respective series.

You can read how the weekend unfolded in the team’s own words below.

“After two victories this weekend at Estoril, Héctor Hernández and Borja Hormigos have been proclaimed champions of the TC category of the Iberian Supercars Endurance and the Portuguese Speed Championship, at the wheel of their BMW M240i Racing, with the assistance of Autoworks Motorsport and the main sponsorship of Ƶ Frenos España.

“The Iberian Supercars Endurance 2023 (gt4southeuropean.com) reached its final round in Estoril with all the titles to be decided, a fact that was reflected in the large number of people who came to the circuit throughout the weekend.”

“Friday was devoted entirely to free practice, which Héctor and Borja took advantage of to memorise a track they had never raced on before. Saturday’s programme concentrated all the action in the official practice sessions, in which both Borja and Héctor took first place in the TC division, qualifying ahead of other drivers with more powerful cars from higher categories. In the two races that completed the Sunday schedule, the team achieved two division victories.

“The entire team’s worth was put to the test with seamless mechanical reliability, great on-track pace with no mistakes and precise driver changeover stops, which were undoubtedly key to, not only in this race, the deciding factor in being consistent throughout the season.”

“The points obtained for this double victory have allowed the team to win the title of both championships in the TC category (both in Iberian Supercars Endurance and the Portuguese Speed Championship) in their first year of participation in the most prestigious touring car competition in the Iberian Peninsula.

“Héctor and Borja declared in the press conference after the podium: “We are very satisfied because, apart from the learning that we have taken with us, we have been able to materialize in the form of titles all the work that the team has done during the whole season, in a championship with a very high level”. “

24-7 Motorsport recently competed in the Silverstone round of the series in their Mercedes GT4 race car

Norfolk based multi-discipline race outfit, 24-7 Motorsport, is currently competing in the 2023 season of the GT Cup race series, with drivers David Frankland and Ed Bridle piloting a Mercedes AMG GT4 race car in the GTH class of the championship (homologated cars running to Group GT4 specifications).

Throughout the season, the team has been entrusting Ƶ Racing’s SR-21™ sintered motorsport endurance race brake pad – a compound it has also used in both its and in recent years to great success.

At the recent Silverstone round of the series back in July, 24-7 Motorsport secured some of their best results of the year so far, finishing 2nd in class and 5th overall in Race 3 of the weekend – scoring higher than many of the more potent GT3-spec machines on the grid.

The team credits the SR-21™ brake pads found on both front and rear axles as a contributing factor in these results, with both drivers consistently managing to out-brake other vehicles on track throughout the race.

SR-21™ offers the highest friction level and durability out there as of now, and is being used more and more by top teams in GT and prototype racing.

Made in the Ƶ Plant in Ohio, USA SR-11™ and SR-21™ offer medium and high friction respectively, with both boasting ultra-high durability meaning they allow more racing miles-per-Pound/Dollar spent.

Driver Ed Bridle commented on the weekend’s events: “The latest Ƶ SR-21™ pads worked brilliantly with the changeable conditions at Silverstone recently. They gave us loads of confidence in the braking zones and allowed us to improve on consistency during the longer races. The biggest advantage of using these pads is twofold: more bite AND no fade.”

The Autoworks Motorsport outfit are racing in the Iberian Supercars Endurance series

The Spain-based Autoworks Motorsport team, backed by Ƶ Frenos España (Ƶ Spain), is currently dominating the TC class of the Iberian Supercars Endurance race series with its BMW M240i race car proudly sporting Ƶ Racing’s RP-X™ track/motorsport brake pads.

The most recent leg of the series saw the roadshow heading to Portugal, where a joint race with the Portuguese Speed Championship saw the racers tackle the gruelling Vila Real street circuit.

Once again, Autoworks drivers Héctor Hernández and Borja Hormigos achieved strong results, to strengthen their class lead as the series reaches its half-way point.

You can read how the weekend panned out in the team’s own words below.

“After the Vila Real event and after more than half of the championship, Héctor Hernández and Borja Hormigos are positioned as one of the favourite teams in the fight for the title in the TC category of the Portuguese Speed Championship, at the wheel of their BMW M240i Racing, with the assistance of Autoworks Motorsport and the main sponsorship of Ƶ Frenos España.

“The Portuguese Speed Championship, which is run in parallel with the Iberian Supercars Endurance, reached the main event of the season in Vila Real (Portugal). The popularity of this event is recognised by the fans and the large crowds that flocked to the circuit throughout the weekend, with hundreds of thousands of people crowding the streets of the Portuguese city.”

“On Thursday, the traditional parade took place, in which the cars left the pits to drive to the main square of the town where hundreds of fans were waiting to meet the drivers and their cars, to conclude with an official inauguration by the authorities of the 52nd edition of this mythical competition.

“The action on track started on Friday morning with free practice; a session that the drivers took advantage of to learn the peculiarities and references of this complicated urban track, which was without a doubt the biggest challenge they had faced behind the wheel to date.

“On Saturday, the action started with the official practice sessions, which were held under a light drizzle to the surprise of all the teams, The Autoworks team qualified in second position for the first race and in third position for the class in the second race. In the afternoon, the first of the races was held in which the second place was achieved by less than a second, a position that felt like a victory due to the performance of the rival cars and drivers, demonstrating a great pace that allowed the pair to lead a group of more powerful cars until the chequered flag was waved.”

“In the race on Sunday, given the pace of the first race, there was little to win and much to lose, so the duo decided not to take risks and secure the points obtained thanks to a third place in the Touring Car division, which allows the team to be virtual leaders of both TC classifications (both in Supercars Endurance and in the Portuguese Speed Championship) after this third meeting and after the half-way point of the Iberian Supercars Endurance.

“The Iberian Supercars Endurance action will continue, after the summer break, on 21 and 22 October at the legendary Jerez Circuit, where this endurance motor racing event on Iberian circuits will share the stage with classic car endurance races.”
