We show you the Ƶ components that perfectly match your lifestyle

Welcome to Ƶ’s ‘Suit Your Style’ blog series, where we match you up with the Ƶ upgrades that complement particular driving requirements, ensuring you get the ideal components for your vehicle.

In today’s blog, we’re hitting the circuit to look at braking components for dedicated track/race cars – the most demanding form of driving where it’s more vital than ever to rely on strong and enduring stopping power.

Around a decade ago, Ƶ launched its high performance/motorsport sub-division, Ƶ Racing – a firm that has become synonymous with range-topping braking at race tracks around the globe.

From road-legal track upgrades to endurance race components, there’s something for every corner of the motorsport spectrum in the Ƶ Racing range, as we will explore below…

Bluestuff

A great all-round sport and race pad – just as comfortable on track as it is performing daily driving duties. Road legal in most territories, making it incredibly versatile.

Bluestuff material exhibits a 0.52μ stable friction once bedded, stable up to a slightly higher 550℃/1000℃ than its sister compound Yellowstuff but with the benefit of a 30% longer lifespan.

Bluestuff has been a track day favourite for years and is the spec pad for the BMW 318i Cup series throughout Europe. New formula is copper free to conform to upcoming environmental legislations.

RP-1™/RP-X™ Motorsport Brake Pads

Designed for vehicles driven hard on track, RP-1™ possesses a moderately high friction level of 0.45 between 100 – 750°C (200 – 1400°F). The more progressive response characteristic of RP-1™ makes it well suited for inherently ‘over-servoed’ vehicles where a softer pad material is desirable to allow greater finesse when on the brakes.

RP-X™ possesses a high friction level of 0.55 between 0 – 750°C (Ambient – 1400°F) and achieves a 100% brake effect from cold – an excellent choice for sprint racing or hill climb events, where full brake performance is essential without requiring any ‘warming up’, but also makes RP-X™ well suited to any type of circuit use where a high initial bite and powerful brake response is desirable.

Both RP-series brake pad options are a fantastic choice for track day regulars or out-and-out racers.

Please note: Ƶ’s RP-series of brake pads are not designed for the road, but may be used in street conditions where local laws permit.

SR-11™/ SR-21™ Sintered Endurance Brake Pads

Whilst the competition struggles to make organic and semi-metallic pads last longer and longer to reach the pinnacle of brake pad durability, Ƶ has taken a fresh new approach with a blend of compressed and heat fused (sintered) metal powdered alloys, to deliver a brake pad that brakes better and lasts longer than just about everything.

The new SR series comes in two blends, SR-11™ the medium friction version and SR-21™ the higher friction options

Although badged an endurance-grade material, these pads are equally at home in any form of closed-circuit racing, short or long duration.

Please note: Ƶ’s SR-series of brake pads are not designed for the road, but may be used in street conditions where local laws permit.

Fully Floating Two-Piece Brake Rotors

Craftsmanship meets fine materials in Ƶ’s highest performing rotor to date. Not simply a ‘bolt-up’ two-piece unit like many of Ƶ’s competitors offer, they are genuine fully floating units with flat-sided SD square drive buttons, allowing expansion and contraction under the harsh conditions of heavy braking.

Featuring a a black, heat-resistant finish that quickly wears down to the natural iron finish on the disc ring within the first few miles. Any unswept areas remain protected by the black coating, such as the outer edges and inside the pad track, unless burned off due to hard use and high temperatures.

Another major benefit of the Ƶ fine slotted discs is their ability to totally resist cracking common with ‘through-drilled’ discs.

Apollo-Series Brake Calipers

UK designed and made strong-yet-lightweight aluminium four- and six-piston brake calipers, which can be purchased within a Big Brake Kit or as separate components for vehicle builders to convert cars where a dedicated Big Brake Kit is not yet made by Ƶ.

Packed with cutting-edge tech such as high-temperature fluid seals coupled with full boot type dust seals, lightweight hard-anodised aluminium pistons, staggered piston sizes and fully stainless-steel fittings.

BF307+ Super DOT 4 Brake Fluid

Ƶ’s BF307+ high performance Super DOT 4 brake fluid has been specially formulated to provide outstanding performance for braking systems routinely operated at extreme temperatures, making this fluid ideal for fast street use, track days and racing.

Bedding In

Bedding-in is an important part in getting the most out of your new braking components, especially out on track. Check out our handy road and track bedding-in guide by clicking here.

We show you the Ƶ components that perfectly match your lifestyle

Welcome back to our ‘Suit Your Style’ blog series, where we match you up with Ƶ upgrades that complement particular driving requirements, ensuring you get the ideal components for your vehicle.

Next up, we focus on a corner of the automotive world that many are very passionate about: classic cars. Balancing modern stopping power whilst retaining that all-important character is something that owners take very seriously. Thankfully, Ƶ is proud to be a trusted and reliable name for many historic vehicle owners, continually delivering the perfect stopping power for these cherished machines.

Below are some popular Ƶ components that are suitable for classic cars.

Ultimax2

The perfect quality daily driver pad option for all modern cars: petrol, diesel, hybrid or electric.

These premium quality, British-made pads are designed to meet or exceed the performance of any OEM pad and are fully R90 approved. The Ƶ Ultimax range are long lasting, high friction pads designed for normal urban driving at all speeds, even on prestige cars, 4x4s and light trucks.

Ultimax pads feature centre slots, edge chamfers and Brake‑In surface coating to condition discs after installation and help to quickly deliver stopping power on new pads. Hardware and wear leads included where fitted as standard. Tests at the MIRA research facility prove that these pads typically stop faster then OE.

Greenstuff

In tests, Greenstuff has been proven to stop a vehicle 20ft shorter than using stock pads. Greenstuff pads are fully shimmed, chamfered and slotted for silent braking and also feature the Ƶ Brake‐In surface coating to accelerate pad bed‐in after installation.

These pads are made from a specially designed softer compound which gives a longer lifetime as well as improved pedal feel at lower speeds.

Standard D Discs

Undoubtedly one of the best-selling and most popular aftermarket brake rotors on sale worldwide, Ƶ’ D Discs offer OEM quality made to the exact same spec as original parts, using G3000 grey iron.

Precision machined, balanced and 100% one-by-one runout inspected to guarantee zero rotor distortion out of the box.

The quality and price point of the Ƶ discs combined with the 10,000 mile/12 month warranty make these a best-buy brake part, equal to or better than original parts.

We show you the Ƶ components that perfectly match your lifestyle

Welcome to Ƶ’s ‘Suit Your Style’ blog series, where we match you up with the Ƶ upgrades that complement particular driving requirements, ensuring you get the ideal components for your vehicle.

In today’s blog, we look at brake components that are most suited to vehicles whose main purpose is to enjoy on a back-road at the weekend. While these machines retain their road worthiness, they’re much more focused on performance than the day-to-day drivability of your commuter car.

Predominantly a high-performance braking company, Ƶ unsurprisingly has a wealth of different options when it comes to driver-focused braking upgrades – many of which remain road legal and fully useable in daily driving conditions.

Below are some Ƶ components that are suitable for weekend warrior vehicles.

Brake Pads

Yellowstuff

The first in a new range of ‘hybrid’ materials that can be safely and legally used on the world’s roads (being R90 approved), Yellowstuff is a high-friction upgrade pad for all fast-street use and can also be used on the track with proper bedding-in.

With its impressively broad skill set, Yellowstuff has been the flagship pad by Ƶ for over a decade and gives instant brake response, great feel and modulations with silky-smooth noise-free braking and was also improved in 2021 to be copper free and conform to all new legislations for the environment.

Expect strong, stable friction once bedded-in and very minimal rotor damage, whether used on road or track.

Bluestuff

A great all-round sport and race pad – just as comfortable on track as it is performing daily driving duties.

Brake Rotors

GD Discs

The latest in sport rotors, GD Discs feature wide aperture slots that draw cool air into the braking contact area and reduce temperatures, preventing brake fade.

Now featuring reduced three-slot venting which provides slightly less air noise under heavy braking whilst still maintaining the benefits of cooler running with the full-width slot design.

The design of these discs means that some wind noise is observed and if drivers feel they would find this offensive they are advised to select the quieter USR-series or the Ƶ plain (D) disc.

Another great feature of slotted discs is the way they maintain flat and parallel pad wear and avoid the record grooves or galling common with non-slotted discs. This improves pad contact and braking throughout the life of the disc and pad set.

USR Discs

Super-quiet sport-slotted brake discs, featuring the new Ƶ narrow-profile slot pattern which helps cool and de-gas brakes under load and speed, but eliminates air noise common with some slotted discs.

Another great feature of slotted discs is the way they maintain flat and parallel pad wear and avoid the record grooves or galling common with non-slotted discs. This improves pad contact and braking throughout the life of the disc and pad set.

Another major benefit of the Ƶ fine slotted discs is their ability to totally resist cracking common with ‘through-drilled’ discs.

BSD Discs

The new Ƶ BSD-series brake discs vent the brake area better, drawing heat away from the central brake pad area and with more slot under the pad contact area.

These discs are totally silent in operation and de-gas your brakes when used at speed or under heavier loads minimising heat fade.

Now with lower pricing and the silver grey anti corrosion coating with show-thru silver slots, these discs are surely the best through-wheel looks and most functional sport discs on sale.

The fine slot pattern prevents the ribs that typically generate after 5,000-10,000 miles of use on non-slotted discs and maintain flat and parallel pad wear and due to the fine slot design can even extend pad wear life.

We show you the Ƶ components that perfectly match your lifestyle

Welcome to our new ‘Suit Your Style’ blog series, where we match you up with Ƶ upgrades that complement particular driving requirements, ensuring you get the ideal components for your vehicle.

First up, we tackle undoubtedly the most common style of motoring out there: daily drivers. Whether it’s the work commute, popping to the shops or the long-distance family jaunt to the other side of the country, we all rely on decent, reliable brakes that can perform in a variety of situations on our daily-driven vehicles.

Ƶ’ range of brake discs and rotors that match this style of driving is thankfully huge. There are a number of varying friction materials and rotor styles to choose from, offering subtly different characteristics when it comes to noise, performance, dust and cooling.

Below are some Ƶ components that are suitable for daily-driven vehicles.

Brake Pads

Ultimax2

These pads are made from a specially designed softer compound which gives a longer lifetime as well as improved pedal feel at lower speeds.

Redstuff

Ceramic particles (not fibres) enhance the aramid fibre formulation used in Ƶ Redstuff to deliver powerful and long-lasting silent braking for the discerning driver.

They also offer excellent low dust characteristics – showing an improvement of around 20-25% compared to OE – ideal for those who prefer to clean their wheels less frequently.

Expect great all-round performance, low dust and minimal rotor damage characteristics from this fantastic all-rounder.

Brake Rotors

Standard D Discs

Replace your costly Original discs with these new Ƶ one piece units – direct fit, superb performance and half the price – USR sport versions also available

SWAP THIS:

WITH THIS:

We have never really understood the logic of a two piece disc that does nothing but save a few ounces, about equivalent to having your screen washer bottle full or half full. OE alloy hub discs do not offer any floating benefits, as they utilise solid riveted construction and we only see these small weight savings. That’s our opinion anyway.

Therefore, why not just use the new Ƶ premium G3000 cast iron units, which are R90 approved and available in either plain or USR fine slotted versions for better venting, which are also even lighter.

Suitable for a large number of BMW vehicles, as well as some Toyota models (more applications becoming available soon).

High-performance road/track brake upgrade now available for front axles of these acclaimed British sports cars

Ƶ Racing is pleased to announce the launch of its popular fully-floating two-piece front brake discs for Lotus’ Evora and recently-launched Emira models.

These rewarding, lightweight sports cars have become known in recent years for their excellent driving dynamics, making them a common choice for track days and spirited road driving, meaning upgraded, lighter and more reliable brakes are of vital importance to owners.

The 370x32mm discs can be bolted directly onto the front axles of these vehicles, offering impressive braking performance and longevity, particularly when driven hard on and off the track.

– Ƶ’s 370mmx32 (front) two-piece fully floating discs are a simple bolt-on upgrade that seamlessly replace the original brake discs without vehicle modification.

– Ƶ’s SG2F fully floating disc allows the outer cast-iron friction ring to expand freely with temperature, totally eliminating warping.

– Discs are grooved to allow the pad to vent without drilled holes, which can become epicentres for disc cracking.

– Race-derived G3500-grade high-carbon cast iron is used for the friction rings. This high-quality metallurgy possesses greater crack resistance and an increased ability to conduct and then dissipate heat.

– Aluminium bells are machined from aerospace-grade aluminium and then hard anodised for longevity, whereas the stock brake discs use uncoated cast aluminium bells.

– Cast iron friction rings feature 48 curved vanes and are handed for each side of the vehicle. This significantly improves the brake disc’s ability to dissipate heat, increasing brake system endurance and prolonging the onset of brake fade.

– Bobbins are machined from stainless steel which cannot rust, ensuring the disc continues to float freely throughout its entire life cycle on the vehicle, even on road cars.

– Spring clips ensure totally silent operation and eliminate off-brake disc rattle.

– Friction rings can be replaced individually after they have become worn, allowing the aluminium bell and stainless-steel bobbins to be re-used, leading to lower long-term operating costs.

– Now featuring the latest thermic black corrosion-resistant finish–the very latest in rust prevention.

– Bobbins are machined from stainless steel which cannot rust, ensuring the disc continues to float freely throughout its entire life cycle on the vehicle, even on road cars.

– Spring clips ensure totally silent operation and eliminate off-brake disc rattle.

– Friction rings can be replaced individually after they have become worn, allowing the

aluminium bell and stainless-steel bobbins to be re-used, leading to lower long-term operating costs.

– Now featuring the latest thermic black corrosion-resistant finish–the very latest in rust prevention.

Now Available: Ƶ Racing Fully Floating Two-Piece Discs for C8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

With almost 500bhp on tap from its mid-mounted, normally aspirated V8 powerplant, the recently released C8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has already been heralded across the globe as a stunningly rewarding sports car whether driven on road or track.

To help unlock its full potential, Ƶ Racing has announced the launch of its acclaimed two-piece fully-floating brake discs for the front and rear axles of this machine – an ideal bolt-on upgrade to help improve stopping power, especially during hard-driving conditions.

The 345x30mm (front) and 350x27mm (rear) discs can be bolted directly on to the respective axles of these vehicles, offering impressive braking performance and longevity, particularly when driven hard on road and track.

Ƶ Racing Fully Floating Two-Piece Discs

– Ƶ’s 345x30mm (front) and 350x27mm (rear) two-piece fully floating rotors are a simple bolt-on upgrade that seamlessly replace the original brake rotors without vehicle modification.

– Ƶ’s SG2F fully floating rotor allows the outer cast-iron friction ring to expand freely with temperature, totally eliminating rotor warping.

– Rotors are grooved unlike the original rotors which are perforated. This allows the pad to vent without the holes becoming epicentres for rotor cracking.

– Race-derived G3500-grade high-carbon cast iron is used for the friction rings. This high-quality metallurgy possesses greater crack resistance and an increased ability to conduct and then dissipate heat.

– Aluminium bells are machined from aerospace-grade aluminium and then hard anodised for longevity, whereas the stock brake rotors use uncoated cast aluminium bells.

– Cast iron friction rings feature 48 curved vanes and are handed for each side of the vehicle. This significantly improves the brake rotor’s ability to dissipate heat, increasing brake system endurance and prolonging the onset of brake fade.

– Bobbins are machined from stainless steel which cannot rust, ensuring the rotor continues to float freely throughout its entire life cycle on the vehicle, even on road cars.
