The Club Racer team uses a raft of ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Racing components on their Mk5 VW Golf GTI

The Clubracer racing outfit – made up of drivers Henry Wright and Kevin Glover – has relied on ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ components as it has made its way up the ranks through the MSVR Trackday Championship classes.

This all culminated in anÌýoutright championship win in 2025Ìý– a fantastic result for the team. Riding off this success, they’ve decided to move onto pastures new for the 2026 season, entering the 750MC Roadsports Championship in their modified Mk5 VW Golf GTI.

With a string of further upgrades applied over the winter, and retaining their winning Apollo Big Brake Kit/RP-Xâ„¢ brake pad setup, the team secured podium in their debutant 2026 round at Croft.

We next caught up with the driver duo following their third round on the mighty Silverstone GP course, where more podiums ensured they left the weekend leading their class.

Find out how it all panned out in their own words below…

“With the season nearing the half-way point, we headed toÌýthe home of the British GP for Round 3 at Silverstone. With the forecast looking to be red hot, and the entry list showing 62 cars, it was going to be a challenging weekend!

“Qualifying with a two-driver team is always going to be difficult, especially on the longer circuits as we effectively lose 7-8 mins of the 25-min session with an in-lap, driver change and out lap et cetera – let alone getting your eye in quickly to put in fast laps with 61 other cars contesting the same piece of tarmac! With that said, we managed to hustle the car to P7 in class which with no testing and a few new chassis updates we were happy it was a good place to start the race!”

“Having sat for 20 mins in full race gear in the baking heat in the holding area, the race rolling start was a bit of an odd event, as when starting 27th in a packed grid with a lot of TCR cars and higher horsepower Class A cars, you can’t actually see the starting lights due to the nature of the curved start/finish straight. So, the first lap was a case of consolidating position, staying out of trouble and picking a few slow starting cars off. The temperature in the cockpit by this point was already getting to uncomfortable with the ambient temp being nearly 30°C. Whilst the first half of the race continued, Henry managed to pass a couple fellow Class B runners and continue the slow but steady climb up the standings, helped by a few runners having heat related, and other issues. As it neared the end of the pitstop window, Henry managed to pick off the current class leader whilst battling through traffic heading down the Wellington straight promoting us to 4th in class. The next lap, Kev took the reins and set about consolidating the position with some high pressure from fellow Mk5 GTI driver, Josh Johnson. However, managing to complete the job allowing us to cross the line in 4th in class, just shy of the podium. A solid effort to make up 3 places from our qualifying position.”

“The post-race checks on 2 of the podium-finishing cars found them to be the wrong side of the regulations, one for weight infringement, one for ride height, thus promoting us to 2ndÌýin class! A welcome result with all the hard work going on in the background on performance a reliability. Needless to say, the 355mm 6-pot Apollo big brake kit equipped with RP-Xâ„¢ compound pads didn’t miss a beat, dealing with the hot temperatures, and giving high confidence from start to finish. We are also seeing impressive wear rates for both disc and pads given the harsh environment and relative heavy weight of the car. It’s nice to be able to largely forget about that factor as we know it ‘just works’! The rear setup utilising OEM equivalent Ultimax discs and pads is also surpassing expectations given the beating they receive!

“With our (so far) consistent results this year, and constant development with the car, we currently head into Round 4 at Anglesey at the end of June heading the Class leaderboard – a genuinely amazing place to be with it being our first campaign in the 750mc Roadsports formula. Hopefully the second half of the seasons continues in the same way!â€

The driver duo uses a raft of ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Racing components on their Mk5 VW Golf GTI

The Clubracer racing outfit – made up of drivers Henry Wright and Kevin Glover – has relied on ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ components as it has made its way up the ranks through the MSVR Trackday Championship classes.

This all culminated in an outright championship win in 2025 – a fantastic result for the team. Riding off this success, they’ve decided to move onto pastures new for the 2026 season, entering the 750MC Roadsports Championship in their modified Mk5 VW Golf GTI.

With a string of further upgrades applied over the winter, and retaining their winning Apollo Big Brake Kit/RP-Xâ„¢ brake pad setup, the team approached the first round at Croft Circuit with an optimistic mindset.

Find out how it all panned out in their own words below…

“With the success of 2025 behind us, winning the MSVR Trackday Championship overall, we set our sights on a different goal for 2026: the Roadsports Championship hosted by 750MC would be where we plan to do battle. With a very similar format, but slightly higher power categories and faster pit stops, it sets a very different challenge.Ìý

“Over the winter, the car has received a slight power hike with a bigger turbo and supporting mods, along with some other minor upgrades. Rear brakes have been upgraded to factory Mk5 Golf R32 vented ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ plain discs, and Ultimax2 pads with slightly larger diameter; not necessarily for more brake force, but a more consistent temperature window, as the rears are worked quite hard with the OEM ABS system. This, matched with the now tried-and-tested ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Apollo 6 pot 355x32mm front big brake kit, and our ‘go-to’ RP-Xâ„¢ compound pads.”

“Round 1 was held at the Croft circuit near Darlington, with the weather looking to be mixed to say the least. Qualifying started in wet conditions. We readied the car with a known good wet setup and Kev rolled out to see where we were pace wise.

“Having no previous running against the new field of competitors (26 in our Class B!), it was a complete unknown at this stage. As Kev pulled in after his stint, we were sat in P2 initially – a great start! Henry jumped in for the final few laps with the track conditions improving quickly, but unfortunately a combination of traffic, an odd red flag due to a circuit electrical glitch, and various other racing driver excuses!, we ended the session in P5.

“Still a very respectable start to the campaign. It’s always been a bit of a disadvantage having 2 drivers in a sprint enduro format, as you lose half the session changing drivers and getting back up to speed, whilst single driver entrants keep lapping. Especially in changeable conditions.

Ìý“The new brake setup was proving a vast improvement in terms of feel and temperature consistency, so we were very happy with the confidence that was giving us in the bumpy braking zones.”

“The race was full of excitement, the weather constantly changing throughout. The rolling start went without issue and first five cars including us started to pull away from the remaining pack. With contact up ahead from a bold move into the Complex saw us take advantage and up to P3, using our normal measured approach. A lap later the leader went off going into the Complex too! P2.

“A few laps went by before the previous leading car of Packer was back on our rear bumper, he went through on the inside into the Complex, allowing all 3 leading cars to bunch up nicely heading down into Tower corner the following lap, where Packer re-took the lead. I ceased the opportunity to follow him through with a late brake manoeuvre both going past the leading Mk7 Golf back into P2.”

“On the way into the pits, a lapped Porsche Boxster held us up for half a lap, unfortunately meaning Kev came out the pits now in P4. Soon after Kev’s pit exit, there was a safety car due to a crashed Vauxhall Corsa, meaning it would be a 3-lap sprint to the end. The 3rdÌýplaced BMW Z4 seemed a long way ahead on the penultimate lap, with the added hassle of a lapped VW Scirocco in-between Kev and his target. A very committed move past the backmarker through the left hander of the Esses, subsequently forcing the BMW to out brake himself into Sunny-in. Kev lined up the move into the harpin after getting right up under the bumper through the Complex. taking the P3 spot!

“A podium first time out! Couldn’t be happier with that, especially with the quality of the machinery we were up against. The car was faultless through all the different conditions. Ultimate confidence on the middle pedal making the difference for us once again.ÌýÌý

“Next round – Brands Hatch GPÌýon May 3rd! Bring it on…â€

The two ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ-equipped cars achieved mid-pack results at Brands Hatch

Bedford-based Team Hamster Racing (also known as Porsche and German car specialist, TH Racing) have been competing in the 750MC BMW 116 Trophy for a few years now, entrusting ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ’ Bluestuff brake pads from the start.

For 2024, the team has entered two cars into the series, both of which continue to sport Bluestuff pads.

The first round of the year took the roadshow to Kent’s Brands Hatch, where challenging weather conditions saw the cars achieve solid mid-pack results, and boasting plenty of potential for the season ahead.

You can read how the weekend panned out in the Team Manager’s own words below…

“The weekend started very damp and only got wetter. With two sprintÌýracesÌýon Saturday, we had a baptism of fire as the conditions got worse and worse.

“We didn’t let this put a dampener on things though, finding the cars to be very responsive in the wet. I was racing in the second sprint in car 83 and having qualified right in mid-field (14th out of 34), we fought hard, moving up the order, to finish 12th.”

Ìý“On Sunday we had the 90-minute enduranceÌýrace. This was fraught with incidents. One particular team, mentioning no names, appeared to have decided they could win by knocking everyone else off.

“Our customer’s car was hit on lap 1. Then, halfway through the first stint, #83 was hit so hard the airbox came off. With #82 finding its way into the gravel at the bottom of Paddock Hill in its second stint, unfortunately we weren’t going to be getting any trophies that day.

“Despite all this, and with both our cars having very long pit stops while they were repaired, both cars looked competitive and we still finished lower mid-field; not at the back as you would expect.

“Not the best start to the season, but definitely not the worst either. We all had a lot of fun and most importantly the brakes were great.â€

The team’s first full year of independent racing went far better than planned

Bedford-based Team Hamster Racing (also known as Porsche and German car specialist, TH Racing) completed their first full year in the 750MC BMW 116 Trophy throughout 2022.

As one of the few privateer outfits competing in the fiercely fought series, the team were pleased with some solid mid-pack results throughout the season.

Team Hamster Racing entrusted ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ’ Bluestuff NDX brake pads throughout the season, which they said were fundamental in their successes.

You can read the thoughts of Team Director, James Cannon, in his own words below.

“Now the race season is over, it’s time to look back at our first full year of independent racing!

“Having spent the preceding six months building the car, we arrived at Donington Park at the end of March, for our pre-season sponsors’ event.

“It was a great opportunity for our partners to meet each other as well as the team, and it was nice to put names to faces as we had representatives from almost all our sponsors there. It was a real pleasure to go round the pits showing them how their support had helped us build our first car.

“With the pleasantries out of the way, it was time to go racing! We started our season at Oulton Park. With a bit of an intimidating grid of 40 cars to compete against, the team showed its previous race experience as we all pulled together, finishing our first 90-minute race in 25thÌýplace. One of very few new teams this season, we were thrilled to finish above 15 tried-and-tested cars.

“Next up, the home of British motorsportÌý– Silverstone. A brilliant experience to race on such a fast circuit. We did struggle with the setup that weekend, having not had a lot of setup time. Towards the end of the race, we had a small incident, being pushed off-track by one of the leading cars, but it wasÌýstill a successful weekend – we finished 20thÌýin another big field of cars.

“It was already mid-summer by this point and time to return to Donington Park. This weekend marked a step forward for the team as we welcomed our first ‘arrive and drive’ customer. A driver who having already competed in the trophy with one of our rival teams, hired the driver’s seat for a portion of the race. A difficult weekend again with little setup time, however, we held our own, finishing in 27thÌýposition.

“With a very short turnaround, we headed to Brands Hatch in the same month.ÌýHaving struggled at Donington, the team doubled down with one of our best results, finishing 15th on track. More importantly, this weekend we hosted our first ‘at-race’ sponsors’ event. Thank you to everyone who attended.”

“We finished the season last month at Snetterton. A huge three-day race meeting for the 750 Motor Club (our organising body), which saw a vast amount of cars on track in many different formulas. We were graced with great weather considering it was October and it was good to see more representatives of our sponsors who came down to watch.

“We thankfully had a full day setup session before this race and we really honed the car’s handling. Qualifying was hectic, as ever, and none of us felt we got a good lap in but we could feel the car’s potential beneath us.Ìý

“Having qualified in 27th,Ìýwe made a fantastic start, moving up seven places on the first lap alone – we were really moving and on course for the best result of the season! Until, unfortunately, on lap three, we were side swiped; not a very heavy impact but it caused our rear right tyre to blow out, typically on the first corner after the pit lane.Ìý

“The car was limped the whole lap, back to the pits with a flat tyre. By the time we got back out on track, we weren’t just last, but two laps down. Never to give up we pushed on, and with the damage, the car didn’t feel as quick as it had done earlier but we fought hard.ÌýHaving been two laps down before the first round of pit stops, we finished the race in 27thÌýout of 35 running cars.Ìý

“No, we never troubled the podium, however, I am incredibly proud of our little team in their first year.ÌýWe definitely made mistakes along the way and hopefully have learned from them. For example, evening test sessions are not long enough, and we will only do full-day testing from now on. You can by and large correlate our race results to the amount of time we had testing at a circuit.ÌýÌý

“To sum up, we started the season with only one ambition; to finish every race we started – we did that and more.

“Team Hamster Racing was the dream of one mechanic who when the race programme he ran at work was closed down, decided to do it for himself. It started as a bit of fun for a group of friends but has become far more than that.Ìý

“Stay tuned for 2023, where we might even try ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ’s RP pad range…â€
